Disability is something I relate to as I'm both disabled and work with disabled children. A body that won't work properly doesn't mean the brain doesn't work either. This poem is very important to me personally. 

Written for a ballerina friend of my daughter when she was at school. 

A perennial problem 

It's surprising how looking in the food cupboard can inspire a piece of work. A fun poem (I hope). 

Can't really remember why - or when I wrote this. But many thanks to James Graham for his suggesions. 

When my daughter took A-level art, she studied Waterhouse, whose paintings are based on poems (well some of them anyway) and for her set piece she wanted a poem with the same title, Dressed For Ceremony, so I wrote this. I'll let the poem speak for itself, but the painting was amazing. She got a B for her efforts. 

That's life, I guess! 

Something a little more serious - but there will be more mini words soon. 

I'm sure most of you will remember the Foot and Mouth epidemic that spread across the UK a couple of years ago. This was written in the middle of it all. As I live in a fairly rural area, it affected us in a small way and I witnessed it first hand. 

The title speaks for itself, I have a tune for it in my head but as I don't write music and can't sing, nobody is ever likely to hear it. 

Just to prove to Bluesky that Lion wasn't a flash in the pan. 

A lifelong wish 

An experimental piece, suggested by a science fiction story written by a friend. 

Hope you enjoy these as much as the others. 

Wonder if this could be a bit bluesy, or maybe even jazz? 

This just happened, don't ask me how!! 

Start off slowly, and gradually speed up as you reach the end, to get the most out of this. 

This came to me while riding my bike to work, so I had to try and remember it until I got home later. Couldn't remember it all so this is what was left. 

Inspired by looking around inside an old local church 

Three short pieces with the restriction of only being able to use three lines, each with three words in. 

Names of places always fascinate me, and listening to the shipping forecast and all the shipping areas around the coast of the UK inspired me to try and write a poem about some of the areas, this is the result. 

This one's just for fun ;-) but you will all recognise what it is like on Monday mornings 

Tragedies like this shouldn't be forgotten. This is only based on the event, as I don't know the full facts of the story. 

Another collection of Miniwords. These are not Haikus, although occasionally one might turn out quite unintentionally, to be a Haiku. The form is nine words in total, three lines of three words each. As there are no titles to these pieces the words must be descriptive enough to tell the reader what the subject matter is. Try it, it's fun. 

Couldn't think of a better title, but that's what this is anyway, nonsense! 

The first chapter of a short book intended for children around 11-14 years old. About time travel.

Based on a rather strange experience when I was about 12. 

Dawn awakes in the country 

Walking along the street, a girl passed by and all I could smell was fabric softener on her clothes, that started it all off. 

Loosely based on something that happened when I was about 15 (100 years ago).

I suppose you could say this is a social comment on how we handle our finances in this day and age.
