Drudgery

Washing's out, dinner's on
and the postman's been and gone.
Done the dusting - made the bed;
then went shopping, fetched the bread.
Next it's gardening, what a chore;
God my life is such a bore.
I've been treated like a dog,
worked and slaved - just one hard slog.
Tonight I'll sit and watch TV,
a bag of crisps on either knee.
It's Eastenders after Corrie;
don't disturb me or you'll be sorry!
When I crawl upstairs to bed,
worn out, knackered, nearly dead;
the thought of sleep makes my heart sing -
I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Nicely observed, with a brush of humour and a tint of sadness; I really enjoyed this.

Yes, I liked this
particularly the rhymen and rhythm..
a lot of energy to it
a sort of rap/appeal in aid of the over burdened housewife..
The last line was really good.. a rhetorical and dark twist

Enjoyed

A fabulous take on the mundane... but so sad! Seriously hope this isn't what life is all about. Last line gave me some hope!

Kathleen.. You been following me round doing the chores.

You worded this to perfection.

Well done.

It`s horrible having a never ending list of mundane things to do.
Typical and funny.

Kathleen

The stone of necessity from which you carve a poem that people respond to. Importantly there is no self-pity here - just a glimpse of love hiding in the washing.

Very real.
