Hi everyone, sorry I'm late uploading. And sorry for not commenting or uploading last time around. Things have been a bit manic. Anyway, I'm working on my characters at the moment and this piece came from a prompt in a book I have. I guess I'd like to know how it reads. I'm not sure where it would fit in the novel, so perhaps a bit of guidance on that front would be useful! Or perhaps that's a bit much to ask. All comments gratefully received. Thanks. :) 

Can't remember if I've already uploaded a version of this scene, but it's changed a little if I have! This comes after Daniel has seen that his estranged son of fifteen years is in prison for GBH. Really, I'd like to know what works and what doesn't. I want to flesh Daniel's character out after the opening scenes so that readers can empathise with him. Thoughts? 

Hi everyone, this is what will probably be the second chapter of my novel. The newspaper story is the one about Daniel's seen about his son, Christopher, earlier in the day. I'm interested to see if it reads authentically and how the rest of the narrative progresses. Thanks in advance for any comments. 

This is a scene early on in my novel in which Daniel, the MC, bumps into his colleague and acquintance Jane in town. Just for clarification if anyone's reading this for the first time, Daniel's gay but not out to anyone. Oh, and I've changed from first to third person. Any thoughts?

It has to be 2000 words on the theme of 'Conflict', so I've some room to pad stuff out. Hello everyone, this is a scene that I wrote today as part of my NaNoWriMo. It's very rough and I'd value any input. Since finding out that his son is in prison, Daniel has written one letter to which he's had no reply. This is his second. I guess the main thing I want to know is if it feels natural or not. Thanks in advance. :)

This scene follows on from Daniel's seeing his son Christopher's picture in the paper. It's a little longer than it should be in terms of word count, so sorry about that. But I hope you can stick with it. Thanks in advance. 

In the last scene, Daniel and Samantha met Daniel's old 'friend' from school, Anthony Gray, who we understand makes Daniel very uncomfortable. Ever sociable, Samantha asked Anthony to dinner along with their other friends, Tom and Janine. 

This continues from the last piece I uploaded. Daniel and Samantha are talking with Anthony Gray, an old 'friend' from Daniel's school. I'm aware it's dialogue heavy at the moment and am open to all comments. Thanks in advance. 

This follows on from the funeral scene. Samantha comes back from the washroom to find Daniel talking to an old school friend. 

This is a rough draft of my second chapter. The first chapter sees Daniel receive notification about the death of an old teacher. He reacts very strangely. We also learn that Samantha is pregnant. 

This is the first scene of my novel in progress, currently titled Keeping You A Secret. It's about the fifth draft of the start of the novel. It's a first draft at the moment, but I'd like to know if you think it's engaging and strong enough to demand interest. Thanks.
