My entry for this weeks challenge of "The idiot". I have gone over the word limit a wee bit. Sorry.I hope this is not too preachy. Added: Just edited it, to bring down the word count and tighten up a few bits. 

A weird tale and sort of inspired by Portraits of his Children by George RR Martin. It's a bit rushed so this is the first draft. 

This is a bit of change in style for me, so I would be interested in what you think. Added.. a few tweaks here and there in light of Nell's comments. 

After meeting Helene, Roger is overcome by a strange feeling and injures his head. Recovering late at night he gets a mysterious phone call. The caller says two words only; Være levebrød,- added - edited after comments received 

The story so far: Roger Welland is visting Hannover on business. One night in a bar he meets a woman called Helene. She tells Roger that she is a witch and needs his help. Intrigued by tis, Roger returns with Helene to her home. There she presents Roger with a mysterious hammer and calls him the Smith and that he must face a strange entity called the Fool. Roger snaps, believing that Helene is some deranged person and he flees into the night. 

Like many stories, this one took a life of it's own halfway through and began moving into dark recesses. ADDED** I have made some changes in light of the comments received, the squaddies have gone from the beginning and a few of the errors have been tidied up. 

A reflection of the curent mood in our workplace. 

A piece of flash fiction. After reading Popps by Dryyzz, I had an image of man wanting to protect someone in a park. 

This piece originally appeared in the Flash II week 2 challenge. I have revised it in line with the comments I recieved and would like to see what you all think. (BTW I am also posting to keep my place in the group..and am stuck for ideas at the moment!!) 

A bit bleak but kinda sums up the feelings when you get into a rut. 

What if a caller to a radio show took the DJ banter to heart. Bernard's next steps have finally been plotted. 

A continuation of an experimental work. Added - a few tweaks here and there in line with Nell's comments 

A young man travels to a northen mill town to learn more about the circumstances of his brother's death. 

On the day of remembrance, I felt compelled to write this. 

This story took a strange turn halfway through. I think it can still go in several directions. 

I am not sure if this has quite worked out but as an exercise it was interesting. In Chapter three of the Fellowship of the Ring, a fox spies Frodo, Sam and Pippin asleep in the woods. The fox is on a mysterious errand of which nothing more is said. I often wondered what happened to the fox and what his business was. perhaps this is his story. 

Beauty does not always tame a beast 

This is based on a true event. A friend of mine, did find such a letter in his house, hidden inside a wall cavity. The names have been changed and the date has been moved forward a few days. Sometimes it takes time for a voice to be heard. 

A bored man looks for excitement. This was written as part of an exercise. I am not entirely happy with it but I would like to know what you all think.
