Tell us all about Lollypop
Lollypop Publishing is a socially and environmentally aware independent publishing company based in the West Midlands.
With CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity, Lollypop is helping to raise money for children with cancer. Every 48 hours, 10 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer and leukaemia. CLIC Sargent’s mission is to be there for each family, caring every step of the way, providing individual support to children and young people with cancer and leukaemia and their families.
Lollypop gives 10% of all book sales to CLIC Sargent and all our books – and hopefully yours - carry the CLIC Sargent logo. If we decide to publish your work we hope that you agree with our aims to raise as much money for children with cancer as possible and so we request that you give just a little from your sales too.
We are passionate about helping the environment and try here at Lollypop to do our bit. All books are printed on recycled paper wherever possible and to save paper altogether we also publish all our works in e-format.
What sort of books do you publish and why?
We publish reference, general, children’s and poetry books but only those with a social, transport or environmental message. Lollypop motto is “Books For The Life We Live”, so as long as your work fits well with this, and is absolutely fantastic, then please send it in to us.
Why these topics only?
Well, I guess it is because we want to help to educate and maybe make just a little difference to the world in which we find ourselves.
What excites you about a piece of writing- what keeps you interested?
We only publish a limited number of books a year and we get such a lot of submissions that it is vital that a piece of writing stands out and keeps our attention from the outset. We have a team of readers who will all look at your work as well. They all have busy lives and lots to read so are very quick to tell us if they have fallen asleep after page 10! We look for well written, knowledgeable pieces

Great interview Sarah - but then I guess I am a bit biased since you were the first book publisher to take my work seriously and then accept it for publication - andI came to you via an ad placed on WriteWords in the first place! I really hope this interview spurs other writers into trying Lollypop. I cannot think of a friendlier, more eco-friendly publisher than you guys and I look forward to working with you for many years to come.
