(that got you scared, Roger, didn't it?!)
Review on
Grumpy Old Bookman

Well, I was a bit amazed. At how you'd managed to review it without having read it! But thanks for putting this up, Elspeth. I appreciate it very much.

*bends down to lift bedcovers and shouts into dark space underneath* I'd be rather pleased with that if I were you, Roger. And I've just bought myself a copy as an early birthday present. *returns covers and exits*

I started another thread on this, but clicked 'post' before I'd managed to give it a proper subject. Well done Roger, I think that was a very positive review.
I said - WELL DONE ROGER!
Hang on, let me move the duvet and all these boxes of Christmas decorations and lost socks and blanket fluff. That's better. I said -
Oh, never mind.

Oh it is a good one, Roger. You must be extremely pleased!

Hey, wow, I just came out from under the bed and found all these posts! Thank you everyone, you're very kind. You know, I think GOB is going to have to change the name of his blog to 'Old Softie Bookman' or something.

Well done, Roger, it's a good review of your book, certainly better than his review of the two other books. (Did I get a sniff of sexism there? Maybe not, I'd have to read the books to know) Although I wondered about doing a review based on the first 40 pages and a sneak peek at the end. You can get an idea of the writing and if it's the kind of book that would appeal to you but I think it would be hard to get the wholeness of the novel.

Well done, Roger. Can't wait to get my copy!

Well done, Roger. It must feel great to have such a positive review.
Looking forward to reading it.
All the best

The novel that is. I have, of course, read the review.

Nice, Roger. Followed the link to the Snoopy ring binder, which was an enjoyable taste.

Here's another review, one which I'm very pleased about:

I've heard it said that it's worth trying to take good reviews lightly, tempting though it is to feel one's been approved by the Gods, because it's good practice for taking less good reviews (and there are bound to be some) lightly, so as to be able to feel that the Gods have got nothing to do with it.

Hi Emma,
I can't imagine getting a better review than that, so, yes, it will be downhill from here!
I was just pleased that the book worked for one reader at least. I'm not actually going to go out of my way looking for reviews. But if they are brought to my attention, as this one was, I'll find it hard to ignore them.
After being incredibly stressed out and worried (about possible reviews as much as anything) I think I am on the verge of entering a calmer, almost surrendered state, where I accept that there isn't really anything I can do about anything any more. Once the book is out, to a certain extent, it's out of my hands. I think I will be much more relaxed next Friday, and very possibly pissed by the evening.
Roger.
