  • A thank you

    You won't remember but a couple of months ago (!) I came on here asking for help with a nasty block and generalised writer's anxiety. I got loads of supportive, constructive replies. (Old Friend, you were quite brisk with me, and at the time I have to admit I was rather fuming, but in retrospect even your "stop whining and start writing" approach was very helpful).

    Anyway, in true brattish fashion, I read all your replies and buggered off. I just wanted to say that thanks to you, I've been writing every day, and it's still painful and frustrating and confusing and and and...but I've realised that's actually what writing is, rather than a sign I should give up.

    I've also realised that I may never be a brilliant writer but that's not the point. The point is to keep doing it.

    So thank you.

    <Added>

    I was so over-excited I pressed reply twice- my apologies.

    I haven’t forgotten, Pest, and I'm delighted that you're writing again.

    Good for you!

    Never read the original post, but good news. Hard advice is a jagged pill to swallow.

    Bruce Robinson (Withnail and I, Peculiar Memoirs of Thomas Penman)has a quote on his own computer - "Write it, damn you. What else are you good for"
