Can someone help me with a genre question? I've struggled to find the right 'slot' for my story and, upon joining WW, decided to characterize it as fantasy.
Thinking about it now though,to me fantasy is Terry Pratchett (or maybe he's more sci-fi)or JK Rowling something showing other worlds and castles and dragons etc etc, and my story is not really like that.
To cut a not-so long story short, it's about a young boy who is hypnotised and ends up on a spiritual plane, where spirits take him on a journey to see their past lives and how they died. It spans different lifetimes including a World War II pilot. One of these spirits shows him her murder and that leads into the 'whodunnit'twisty part at the end.
Could this be more of an odd kind of thriller, or crime or maybe even supernatural horror?

    Thanks,
    kitkat

    Sounds like a supernatural thriller.

If the central character is a young boy, it could even be Young Adult.

I think it's a supernatural something, rather than a fantasy something. Whether it's a thriller, horror or literary novel or whatever, I can't tell from your description!
