I am ready for a new project, having finished my first crack at a full length novel. I feel like I would enjoy writing a fable, but would love to hear any advice that you guys could offer on technique and structure. I know I can get much of this online, but to be honest, I would rather hear from my peers.
Thanks again

that's an interesting one - would it be something for yourself, or something you'd be wanting to publish? I would imagine it would be most suited to the children's market, in which case you would need to carefully consider the length and the language you use.

Yeah, that's a concern really. When i think fable i also think allegory. Not sure I want to write something aimed at kids though, that's the issue. I have been getting the rumblings of ideas on content this week, but I picture it as more adult than childrens.

I like writing this sort of thing too, but in terms of publication, the resounding response from editors has been 'we don't do allegory'. But that's for children's stuff.
I'll be very interested to see how you get on - good luck with it!

I hear you. I think I will start a project for myself, see how it plays out. Can't write with publishers in mind, got to go with what I believe in, otherwise my enjoyment of it shrinks.

I would just read a lot of fables and analyse them to see how they work. You might get something out of reading Vladimir Propp
