Ashlinn, you haven’t offended at all. I was just talking about physical appearance, that’s all. Although, reading through your points again before I went to work this morning, I'd say you’re about 50% there:

Mid thirties, single, finds it difficult to commit but even he doesn't understand why.
Yes, yes, yes but does know why – hasn’t met the right person yet (although he does at the beginning of TWH)
Charismatic but retiring; a reluctant hero.
Yes but no – he’s not retiring. He has his own business and ‘sells’ himself well. Is an unwilling hero but has the mental and emotionally wherewithal to deal with things when he has to.
Handsome in an unconventional way but totally oblivious to it.
Handsome in quite a conventional way – tall and dark – but yes, oblivious.
    Not a big talker.
    No, he talks a lot.
Humour wouldn't be his strong point but he appreciates it in others.
He has a wicked sense of humour. (although that perhaps didn’t come out as strongly as it could in TWH)
Popular with others but a loner.
Yes but no. He likes to be with his family and friends, although loves long solitary walks with his dog.
At a party tends to get drawn to the centre of things but would actually rather be on the outskirts, enjoying it as an observer.
At a party, he tends to gravitate to the centre of things – he’s probably in the kitchen cooking up tasty snacks.

This is good. It’s great to analyse a character like this.

Dee, thinking about the point that started the thread, I'm in a similarish position. I've posted the first chapter of something I'm playing with at the moment ('standing David) but now that I have most of the plot mapped out, I can see that to have this scene as the first chapter, I'm going to have to find a way of backtracking. I can start earlier, to get everything chronologically sweet, but it wouldn't have the same BUMP to kick the story into life.

JB, I see Georgia as something like a cross between Andie MacDowell and Sigourney Weaver (no relation!).
