How would one distinguish between a lawyer who is also a criminal and a lawyer who specialises in criminal law?

Surely, the former is a criminal lawyer whereas the second is a criminal lawyer?

And if the former got caught and the latter tried to sue me for libelling their good name, how should one refer to their representatives?
