On second thoughts, i think it must have an apostrophe.

Or just have it singular: "I went to the chemist and bought..."

I'd say chemist's. If I said chemist it would mean the person with that job, not the shop. But I wouldn't put it in capitals unless it was a shop title lile Lloyd's Chemists or Boots the Chemist.
