Anyne know the difference between Write Your Own Novel Standard and Professional software? I bought the standard software by mistake but wonder if there's really that much difference between them. Also has anyone found this software useful and what aspects of it were useful? Thanks, Lorraine

I use Word, Lorraine. I've got the impression that most writers use standard word processing packages for either PC or Mac, but I could be wrong.

What do you all use, guys, and why do you choose it?

Yes, I use Word - do pretty much all my planning with pencil and paper. I know people who swear by Scrivener, which is only available for Mac.

A friend of mine who is fairly new to writing and has just joined us on WW has been using Scrivener, but I think he said it had some drawbacks and he may change to just a wordpro package. Will try to find his comments, or ask him...

    Hello.

Go to www.mynovel.biz and check out the demo of their software.

I have completed an 83,000 word novel using it and I think it's brilliant. If you like it, it will be the best £20.00 you ever spent.

    Regards.

    Hi,
I just use word but have just looked at the demo suggested by musicat. It looks really good. I think I am going to try it. Many thanks and good luck all.

    Hi All,
Thanks for your input. I started using word and am now using Write You Own Novel Standard software which is fine but there are some features I thought it would give me which did not meet my expectations. One example, is the generation of character names and plot ideas which seem a bit simple and random. It also does not have an in built thesaurus which I believe the Professional version does.

Thanks, Musicat - for the tip re. online software. I'll have a look at it.

    Best Regards,
    Lorraine
