Does anyone have any input on the conventions regarding single versus double quotation marks? I almost suspect this came up once before and but I can't find the post, I am afraid.
Also - suggestions for a grammar and punctuation guide would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Indira
Single in the UK, double in the US. Whichever you're doing, you do the other for 'quote within a quote'
Penguin Guide to Punctuation is fantastically clear, and good on US/UK differences.
Oxford Everyday Grammar is very clear and good, but drives me nuts by not having an index. David Crystal's Reintroducing Grammar is just as good, a bit more comprehensive, does have an index, but isn't quite so crystal clear with the explanations.
