Hi, I wonder if you guys can help. I am writing a two-hander in the first person for both characters, but I want to have them going in different directions. So Phil and Bob's wonderful adventure starts with Phil at the beginning and Bob somewhere near the end in alternating chapters. Have you ever seen this before and did it work for you? Answers gratefully received. S

You could check out Nick Hornby's About A Boy, which has alternating chapters from Marcus' and Will's points of view. Hornby carries it off well because he has distinctive voices for Marcus (the 12yr old) and Will (the adult).

Ah yes, that's a good one. I'll check it out. Guess it all comes down to voice. Thanks.S

Would it help with the 'voice' if one of your characters was a girl, and the other a boy?

Julian Barnes's Arthur and George would be worth a look.

Happenstance by Carol Shields may be worth a look.
