I am trying to say that four eyes were looking at something, but am at a loss for a word for four. Let me explain a little better: single is one, dual is two... what is the word that goes with four? I'm sure it's something really simple but am having a blank moment!

Thanks for the link. I think the word I was thinking of might be 'quadruple', although it doesn't seem right somehow. Tetrad might be better, thanks.

Maybe something a bit less exact would be better, eg, a flurry, or a semi-circle, or a crown of eyes stared down...

Well it's a creature that has two sets of two eyes (and the reader knows this), so I think the word needs to be a little specific, although I like your suggestions.
