It is sometimes difficult to identify examples of Style and Technique but through reading 'Dead Letter Day 13' by Jumbo and 'Maria' by PeterOC, one can see good examples of what is meant by both these words.

In Maria we can see a first class example of Technique with the way in which the dramatic quality that PeterOC wishes to convey with the simple opening of a door.

With regard to Style, the way in which Jumbo sets out his writing in limiting the length of each paragraph establishes a distinctive style for this piece.

One of the reasons why I love John Steinbeck's work is that he has a very definite style - almost a voice that gives him an individuality. On our Site I think we have a few Members whose work stands out with a distinctive voice, giving the feeling that if we didn't know who wrote this then the work itself would clearly shout that this has been written by so-and-so.

What are the thoughts of others?
