EXCEL is rubbish. You can't do a thing with it. It's impossible to make documents, write letters or do anything even resembling basic desk top publishing. As for websites, forget it.

    Total waste of time.

    Bah!

Excel is neither a Word processing package nor dedicated Web publishing software, and any attempt to use it solely as such falls into the 'witless buffoonery' category of computer illiteracy.

Beyond which, I've been perfectly able to create standard template documentation and even highly functional websites using Excel. I've created extract programs that take data out of spreadsheets, and format it into text files ready for upload into SAP. I track my own accounts with excel, because while not containing complex tax structure which isn;t applicable to me, but available in most dedicated accounting packages, I can use my knowledge of the application to make it work for me in whaever manner I wish. But really, really, if you want to make documents, use Word, it's what it's there for. For websites, I personally recommend either notepad or Dreamweaver, depending on your experience, level of competence, and ability to work with complex applications.

In short, if you think an application like Excel is rubbish (and I'll happily admit that it's not all it could be), then chances are you either don't know how to use it properly, or you're trying to use it for something that you'd be better off doing on a more specialised application.

Yawn. I tire of fighting the corner of software packages. Somebody think of something more interesting and engaging to discuss.

hahaha - what can I say IB?

er, Gotcha! New you'd never be able to resist bait like that.

Sorry 'bout that. I've been up half the night with kids puking and crying so I thought I'd pop on here and have some fun.

Maybe we should resort to type and kick out the age old argument of MACs vs PCs, but you seem to have a few grey cells, so I'd guess you're a PC user anyway.

Never used a Mac, never looked at Macs, and wouldn't dream of arguing on a subject about which I have no knowledge whatsoever.
