I think it means doing something different, not traditional, surprising. It's just shorthand. Makes sense to me, dunno what that say about me though!

I've just checked their site and it seems that they're closed to fiction submissions. So I think they're using it as a euphemism for: 'take your MS, put it into a stamped, addressed A4 manila envelope and shove it up your arse.'

Could be wrong though, as I hear this and other equally silly, pompous expressions articulated every day in my industry.
