Ellie, have done as you suggested. I think maybe everyone should make their own arrangements for B&B - it might be little difficult for me to co-ordinate.

I've been looking on the 'net to see if anything momentous is happening that weekend, but haven't come up with anything suitable so far. The local paper might be worth a look. Still, there's always the prom, the poor West Pier to weep over and the Palace Pier to stroll on, and the Marina is maybe worth a visit too. We can buy funny hats and walk along with a stick of rock in one hand and a can of lager in t'other singing rude songs. We can hire deck chairs and sit in the sun - the guys with knotted handkerchiefs on their heads and the ladies with their knees apart and showing the regulation 6" of satin flesh-coloured drawers. We can put a penny in 'What the Butler Saw' and paddle in the sea!

Maybe we should now move this discussion to the BRIGHTON ROCKS forum?

This may be quite simplistic, but I've always considered literature to be 'evocation of time and place'.

It works well with the books that I do consider to be literary.
