    Colin, I'm sure you're right.

I've just finished the first book I've ever read that was started by a blog - Julie & Julia. An New York failed-actress-turned-depressed-going-nowhere-possibly-infertile-secretary decided to cook her way through the whole of Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking, which for US cooks of the 50s and 60s was about like Delia Smith and Good Housekeeping rolled into one. She kept a blog of her struggles to buy marrow bones and make oeufs-en-gelée - five years ago - and acquired a devoted following. But there again, there was a core reason for the blog. She worked for the agency in charge of dealing with the relatives of 9/11 victims, and her 'Year of Cooking Dangerously' was the year round the first anniversary, so there's an extra layer to the whole thing. I can imagine that if I'd discovered that blog I would have gone on keeping track of it. And it's a nice book.

There's damning with faint praise for you.

    Sammy, you're a nice book.

And that, my friend, is praise indeed.

    The smile. Honest! (really!)

The other thing I removed from my website is family pics. It's a shame, because I love those pictures and they are a big part of my life, but as has been said, when you put yourself in a position where people might take an interest in your site, you want to control which aspects of your life (or person ) you want them to be interested in.
