Yes it makes sense, yes it would work fine, but bear in mind (this is something I didn't get right in early versions of TMOL ) that your reader will be reading reading along all the time wondering WHEN the two strands are going to join up. Even if it all comes together at the end, you need to keep the reader intrigued by linking them together along the way, or they'll just be thinking, 'Why on earth are these two great stories stuffed into the same book?'
