People may already know, but if not, have a look at this or bookmark it- the Guardian's books page has quite lengthy extracts from recent books, including Mark Haddon's A Spot of Bother (for which he has got into a spot of bother for criticising peterborough without actually going there!) Might be a nice way to spend half an hour, browsing through some nice extracts...
