Does anybody remember reading a short story which basically concluded that everyone divided into two categories - those who suffered from bad backs and those who were depressed (and anyway, the bad back sufferers ended up depressed!) Yes, I know - very cheery! I seem to remember it was American or Canadian. Anyone?

Thanks both of you. Lorrie Moore's writing does look interesting! Emma, I simplified the story - it was cleverer than that but I remember it being depressing
