I should probably add that clacks are also a semaphore messaging system used on Terry Pratchett's Disc World.
So presumably 'clacked-out' would be an outgoing message, and 'clacked-in' would be an incoming message.

The disembodied heads you refer to is from the play called 'play' by samuel Beckett.

When I performed it, it was called Play.

Clacked out is a stage direction telling the person in high heels to exit noisily. Honest...

They're completely out of clacks in town. Going to have to wait till after Christmas for new clack stock, I was told.

I'd rather they yawned at my work than read what I'd written and thought: what a silly, pointless, childish fool. I suppose we all have our own goals though, eh? And, come on, why? Why all this silliness? Do you want to look a twerp? Do you enjoy not being taken seriously?

I cant say that I worry if people take me seriously; I take myself seriously and that is the main thing. I started this discussion about dear old sam in a perfectly polite sincere manner and then the folks on here started to get sarcastic( no doubt from envy and the awareness that they will never write half as good as Beckett no matter how hard they try) and that is what annoyed me.

brightlad, you have variously called this a discussion, a challenge and an argument. Several members - namely EmmaD - have risen to this challenge of discussing Beckett, and yet you have not responded to her questions. Instead you have resported to hurling insults about our own work - which, in the majority of cases, you cannot have read and so cannot have a view upon, so your insults are formless and laughable.
If you wish to discuss Beckett then go ahead, if you just wish to insult us then we will not take you seriously.
