Is anyone else a fan of this writer? His characters were the basis for a tv comedy in the 70s called
I Didn't Know You Cared, but I've been listening to his (imo vastly superior) radio plays,
Uncle Mort's North Country, Uncle Mort's South Country and
Uncle Mort's Celtic Fringe. They're stories of a young man and his miserable elderly uncle travelling round the country, and the humour's both dry and surreal. It's all about old Yorkshire and its weird inhabitants. Brilliantly understated stuff.
