Just got this from them as well:

'The bursary is designed for a writer to work on a novel, however, we are accepting applications from writers who would prefer to work on a collection of short stories/novellas.'

So don't hesitate if you're put off by thought of a whole novel!

They're going to be completely swamped with entries. I wonder if they've realised that?

Maybe not, or at least not yet, anyway, cos they just e'd us asking us to help publicise it! It may be, as per this thread, a lot of people are put off by thinking it's too good to be true, etc.

Suppose they get 2000 entries, eg: cover costs and have 6K to put towards admin and judging costs.

1 in 2000 chance of winning 18,000

Compare this to the lottery:

1 in 3.8 billion chance of winning 7,000,000

Most folks who are desperate for cash can spend a quid or two on the lottery... but I know where my £12 would go.
