No, it's nothing to do with the popular British comedy films featuring Sid James Barbara Windsor etc, but an interesting competition.
Over a six month period you have to submit one story per month, and these are then scored in the following:
Good opening hook
Strong main character
Spelling, punctuation and presentation
Continuity
Suspense
Good pacing
Credibility
Conflict
Empathy
A satisfying ending
Points are all added on a leaderboard.
Sounds good, but at £25 it seems a little pricey. I don't believe there's any feedback (other than the scores), or workshopping of the stories to improve them, or anything.
Any thoughts on this?

Sounds interesting. Who's running it?

I don't know!
The website is:
http://www.carryonwriting.com/index.htm
but there's no 'about' page, (well, not one I've discovered) or info on who will be scoring the stories.

Unbelievable. Shell out £25 to do six months work in the hope of winning £150.
I wonder how many entrants they have.

The leaderboard is already there, with (and I'm going from memory here) around 18 names on it. There's still the best part of two months to register.

Sorry, I can't see the attraction. I'm generally fairly suspicious when it comes to short story competitions where there is an entry fee, a small cash prize and an anthology, because I see them as a business venture, but at least I can see there is something that the author gets out of them (ie to say you've been included in the Fish Anthology actually means something to a lot of people) but this, considering that rather large registration fee - I just don't get it.

I'm all for practising one's craft, but this is taking creativie writing to a new low of tick-box thinking. As well as very expensive. The depressing thing is, it breeds a generation who think this is the way to go about the business.

Hmmm...
