Some good news today! I've just been lucky enough to win the DSJT Open Poetry award for the second time - so I get to polish the cup for another year!
Better start hunting for that silver cleaner then ...

Were you at the awards yesterday? Because I was too - also picking up a piece of silverware.

Ooh, well done, Cas - that's wonderful! What did you win? No, I couldn't be there unfortunately, but my mother and aunt were, doing their stuff on my behalf - and loved it!
Hope you enjoyed it too!

I won the new subscriber's award for my short story Killing Kate. It was a good day out, even if it was quite a trek to get there.

Well done, both of you!

Ha ha, happy days! This post has reminded me of a lovely writing time I had a few years ago--1998 or 9 I think.
When ever it was, I won a small prize fron the DSJT trust, got a word-processor (those were the days) and a small cheque. My sister then also became a subscriber to the magazine and a few months later, entered and won the "new subscriber" competition--one of the top two prizes that they give out each year, worth a stonking £1,000 at the time. We were very pleased, and planned to go to the annual prize-giving together: a whole weekend away from our gorgeous children, in glorious Bath.
We bought our tickets, arranged the hotel: and my sister commented (in all niceness--she wasn't being catty) that it was a shame I'd not won something bigger, so that we could both collect some silverware on the day. And the very next day I was informed that I had won their "winner of winners" prize, also worth a stonking great £1,000!
It was a lovely time, and lifted me from some of the dreadful personal things which were happening at the time. My sister and I still write, although we haven't won any more tandem prizes. But give us time!

Now why didn't it occur to me to post it as a success story?
