You can check it out at this site:
http://www.writersweekly.com/misc/contest.html
The comp starts on Saturday, 22 January at 12 noon US central time, which I believe is 6:00 pm our time.
It looks interesting, if not quite as challenging as the Frantic Flash!

This looks great, Ani. I happen to have an 'orribly busy weekend then. I wonder if I could squeeze a little story in... Did you read what they said about the word count?
E
-
Yes, they announce the word count at the same time as the writing prompt. In the past the maximum word count has ranged from 500 to 2,000 words.
I'm thinking about it, too!
Ani

Yes, I read that- I meant what they said about not giving the word count in advance.
E

Oh, yes, and that made sense to me! It would explain how a competition entry could look TOO good!
-
Think I might have a go at that - if I can register. Have you seen it's restricted to 500 entries?

Just tried to register and keep getting an error message... any advice?

Oh that's right, I almost forgot that part. It sure would be fun to have a group from here doing it. And it's only $5 which is like £2.50, so maybe I'll register too while the going's good. Hope it's still good....

I just registered successfully, so you can still get in there! (I guess that means I'm doing it!)

I just saw your note, Dee. I haven't seen an error message... Have you tried again?
-
Am I supposed to register as a member of that site first?
-
No, I haven't registered as a member of the site. You should just be able to tick the "Check to buy" box and then click on submit. That's what I did.
-
Thanks Ani, I'll try again when my heartbeat gets back to normal.
I'm just watching 'Most Haunted' by way of research for the next blockbuster... scaring the doobrie out of myself... !

18 days to the next comp! I impressed myself by writing nearly 1,500 words in the FF comp on Sunday, though I didn't have time to fix much afterward. This 24-hour comp sounds like luxury after that! And there'll be no excuses, will there? ;-) If it's bad, it's just bad, and that's all!
-
Are you ready for finger action?? Shall we do a story swap when it's all over? Although we have, in theory, 24 hours (assuming you don't like sleeping much) it's still nerve racking. Plus I've got a dinner party tonight and am going out tomorrow... *excuses, excuses*

Story swap when it's all over ounds like a good idea.
I refuse to get tense over this. When the prompt and word limit come out, I'm going to brainstorm away at my computer or in a notebook until something clicks; then I'll just write. I hope. ;-)

Well, the prompt has come and it has inspired me to go get my dinner.
