Adele, I've never posted 'Thicker than water' (completed before I joined the site). I did post the prologue though, and was very encouraged by the commments.

Quite frankly, I'm staggered to be down to the final ten and pretty well-chuffed to be considered in the same league as Terrestrial.

Many congratulations to everyone on their Fishy success! Obviously all those 5,000 wordses were terrific, but I'd be very interested to know if they also felt like a representative enough part of their work to their own authors. I didn't enter because my first 5,000 words doesn't even include the second main strand of a 3-strand novel. Now of course I wish I'd decided that didn't matter and gone for it!

Now that I've stopped quivering in a corner, I want to offer public thanks to Elspeth for prompting me to enter. Cheers e.g. Congratulations to Sion and Jai, best of luck. And many thanks to everyone who has commented on Terrestrial, especially Elspeth, Dee, Sion and Adele for their endless support. My Write Words subscription was the best £35 I ever spent in my life.

I think what's great about this competition (and others) is that you are not being judged on who you are or what you look like, whether the book is 'marketable', etc. you are just being judged on your writing skills. I hope this will open many doors for you both.
