I am new to WriteWords and was wondering if anyone had entered The Academy of Children's Writers' competition?
Writing for children is not my strong point but I decided to give it a go with my piece 'The Key:The Secret'!!

I entered that competition last year and got a letter saying I'd been shortlisted. I was quite excited, until I discovered on another writers' forum that everyone who enters seems to get the same letter - plus several invitations to sign up for one of their pricey correspondence courses! I'm not necessarily saying the competition is dodgy, but I wasn't able to find out any info about who won it. I'd proceed with caution if I were you.

thanks for your response! I entered it when I was 18 (I think it was the same competition), but I was off work ill one day recently when I decided to put together a piece and send it off.
I'll not be too worried if I don't win lol
