Hi everyone!
Just looking for a few opinions.
I'm 25, and have been toying around with script writing for about three years, with limited success. I was always more interested in writing prose, and enjoy it a hell of a lot more, but never thought I was good enough to make a go of it.
Anyway, a few weeks ago, on a whim, I wrote about five short stories, and submitted them to five different small press print magazines. Within the last fortnight, I've heard back from three of them.
Two have said that they'd like to publish the stories, and the third said that it had passed the initial reading stage, and would be passed on to the editor for possible inclusion in the next issue.
"Get to the point!" I hear you shout.
Okay, here's my question: Is this a good sign? Or is it fairly easy for beginning prose writers to get published in small press print mags?
If anyone could get back to me with an opinion, I'd be extreeeeeeemely grateful!
Cheers,
Dave
Actually, it's really difficult for anyone to be published these days - so huge congrats on such great success!!

Dave, yes, many congrats. It's very, very hard to get a story into even one print mag, so you should feel very pleased with yourself. Do post them on the 'members successes' page if you want to.
And welcome to the site!
Emma
Thanks for getting back to me you two!
I feel a bit more positive about things now. I'll try and upload then when I get a chance!
Ditto what the others have said. Congrats, David - getting into print is one heck of an achievement. You should be mightily pleased with yourself.
Nik.
But am I getting excited over nothing? |

No, it's hard to get published, so congratulations and have confidence.
