I've just had an agent request to see the balance of my manuscript - which is fantastic news. However, I'd appreciate the chance to give it one last going over - which might take a week, and I was wondering, is it 'good form' to send it them in a week's time - rather than immediately?
Well done! A week's no problem, to my mind. I mean you might have been on hol or something. You could email to say when you'll be sending it and then confirm when it's actually sent.
I think the urge to give the ms one final comb through is a normal reaction, and they’ll probably be expecting it. Send them a short email saying you’re delighted they want to see the ms, you’d like to take a few days checking it’s properly formatted, and you’ll put it in the post within a week. (I think saying ‘within a week’ has more immediacy than ‘in a week’s time’)
Daniel - Good luck with it. I've been in the same position - got frantic revising a couple of bits just before submitting the full MS. But I think if they like it anyway, what you do at this stage might not make a lot of difference. If they want to give advice later, they will.
