  • Freelance Jobs?

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of any good agencies/websites for freelance work? I'm looking to do a bit of freelance work on the side, and have been to a few sites, but am reluctant to part with too much cash if they're no good!

Anyone got any experience of freelancing with any ideas or advice they could share with me?

Hope to get some feedback from you!

    All the best, Helen

I was a member of something called Freelancedirect which seemed to be delivering the goods until I asked my credit card people to query a statement item I didn't recognise. It turned out to be the agency's coverall name but they cancelled ny subscription. I'm now waiting for it all to be sorted out so I can rejoin. My impression was that some of the work was amazingly poorly paid, but some offers were OK. I got an interesting commission to persuade people to take singing lessons but all the contacts are channelled through the sites so it fizzled out. Shame. I hope you have better luck.

    Hi Helen,

I'm a freelance web content writer, and found sites on the internet which offer these jobs; and i didn't pay any registration fee at all. Currently, I have 2 employers where submit my daily articles.

I recently launched my new site, Freelance Depot.(http://freelancedepot.co.nr). Here i feature freelance job opportunities; and most of my reviews were into freelance writing that i find on the internet. Maybe, you can come and visit my site.

    Best Regards, Jenny

Jenny, Your site looks interesting, and if there is no joining fee the people who post their work have nothing to lose, it seems.

I first got a job writing for an American website through a personal contact and I charged £10 an hour, although I was told by other people that it was too little.

Initially it was just straightforward descriptions of furniture, then I had to do some research into designers, which was quite interesting. After three months the work fizzled out because the company owner found he could get people to do the work more cheaply.

That's when I joined Freelancedirect and found some jobs offered as little as $5 per 1,000 words. I just got my joining fee of £56 back from the credit card company after the admin mixup, but in the meantime I've joined Planet Syndiaction (free) in the hope of selling some of my chapters as travel features - they claim to have a huge magazine database. I've decided to concentrate on finishing my book for now and I have a course I'm doing, but will certainly bookmark your website for future reference.

    Hi Shiela,

Thanks for dropping by my site =) I'm posting mostly freelance writing jobs for free. however, i only get these job ads online. I found fairly good sites that offers part-time jobs for writers and others without registration fee. And there, i got a job for myself.

I'm currently writing for this company, US based, which pays me $0.06 per word. So for example, if I make a 550-word article, its roughly $33.

And i find different writing job offers online.. without registration fee. Though i cant apply on all of them, because two writing jobs are enough for me. So i thought about doing www.freelancedepot.co.nr to post freelance writing jobs i find online.. that i think would help freelance writers like me. I hope you'll find a job for yourself through it.

Thanks, Jenny. The pay you are getting sounds much better than some I've seen.

I have a course that I've just started, and I'm hoping that will lead to some future employment in Film Journalism as a subeditor or reviewer.

    Good luck with your projects.
