A friend of mine is writing a series of vampire novels. I've read the first two and I think they’re brilliant. She’s tried a few agents but it’s the usual story. They either don’t handle this kind of fiction or they already have a writer on their books.
She’s now beginning to think about trying a direct approach to small specialist publishers. Does anyone have any idea who she could approach? Google doesn’t seem to produce much. I'm going to have a browse through WAYB but I just wondered if you might have any suggestions.

This is a bit of a long shot, but how about Serpent's Tail?

Thanks, Frances. I'll pass that on to her.

I somehow seem to remember that Serpent's Tail don't accept unagented submissions.

No they don't, I'm afraid. How about Anubis? Or Dorian Literary agency? Both deal with dark fantasy, horror and sci fi.

Thanks, Fredegonde, I’ll let her know.
JB, thanks for confirming that. She’s actually looking for a publisher at the moment but I’ll make sure she knows about these agents.

If its a new turn on Vampires and sufficiently obscure she could try The Do Not Press. But read the submissions page on their website first.

Thanks Colin. The website says they’re not accepting subs at the moment but I’ll send her the link for future reference.
