  • How to find out which agents represent which authors?
by aliswann at 19:20 on 01 October 2005
I'm curious to know if anyone has any advice on how to find out which agents represent which authors? This thought is coming from a gut-feeling that it is wise to go for agents who represent writers within a similar genre. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking this way?

    What do you think? :-)

I was thinking that just the other day and came across this web site - http://www.agentresearch.com/ which does give some UK as well as US information.

    Good Luck!

    Hi Jane,

Thanks for the that - There's certainly some good info on that- although I am not keen on paying for informaiton at this stage. Has occurred to me that a quick phonecall to the publisher would probably come up with the desired information.

    Worth a shot

You could also look at the author's acknowledgments inside the type of book you are referring to . Most people use this space to publicly thank their agent. Hope this helps. S

You could go about it the other way - agents often list their authors on their websites. I read somewhere that publishers won't give out that information unless you can sound convincingly like the Sunday Times trying to book a front-page interview, but I don't know how true that is.
