    Hi Elspeth,

If you really would like a good read, look up 'Mind Games' by Elspeth Graty - she's a member of this site and lives in France - and no, I'm not being paid to promote this, I just loved it so much! It is only a short story, but I believe the author could expand it and have put that in my 'feedback' for her.

Hope this helps you to find what you're looking for.

Sorry, you're name is Katie, I was simply replying to the email address and have only just figured this out!

Thanks for the tip Scriptsplayed, I'll take a look.

As for script reading software - you'll put me out of a job!!

I do have some more info though on the original point of this posting as I'm changing the submission criteria to cope with the volume of submissions and tailor them to our needs. (Sorry). I'm also putting this in a new posting so everyone sees it.

So, I'm going to have to be brutal and limit what I'm looking at.

From now on (until further notice) I am NOT accepting the following:
    Children's fiction
    Memoirs/autobiographies/biographies
    Science Fiction
    Historical Fiction/Sagas
    Romance/Erotica
    Thrillers/Crime

    I AM looking for
    General fiction
    Literary fiction
Non-fiction (limited, needs to be a strong idea, preferably with some experience/research/personal connection to back it up)

Sorry if this is disheartening but I'm drowning in paper....

    You poor soul, Katie!

If you need any help, I've been a Reader for the past 20 odd years ... you'll see samples of my critiques dotted around this site.

By the way, so that people don't get confused on the definition of General Fiction and Literary Fiction, it might be good to give examples through titles of current books/scripts. Just a wee thought.

The update forum thread has a few examples and has spawned a furious debate. Also check out the literary forum thread. But in the end, judge for yourself. I'm interested in fiction in general so don't worry too much, just bear in mind what I don't want to see at the moment.

Right, yet another update. I'm afraid I'm going to have to close the books completely for now as things are getting hectic. I'll let you know when they open again and in the menatime, thanks to everyone who sent in their work.

    Hi Robin

That sounds interesting, but this thread is somewhat old, and I'm not sure the agent in question will get a chance to view it.

I have visited the directory on WW for you and have the address so you can post your information directly to the agency.

    14/2 Second Floor,
    South Bank Commercial Centre,
    140 Battersea Park Road,
    London,
    SW11 4NB

    Fax 020 7622 5815

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Elspeth,
I read your advert and I think I have just what you are looking for. I have written a media satire called Newscom and I'm currently looking for the right kind of people to help me take it forward.
You can see a sample of my writing style here at my site:
    http://newsdirect-aningeniousname.blogspot.com/

My novel is basically written in the same style and should you be interested in talking to me further, you can contact me at this address: mclauchlan.mark@googlemail.com

I look forward to hearing from you,
    Mark Mclauchlan.

Mark, having checked her profile it doesn't seem as though Elspeth has been active on WW since 2004.

I would advise sending your work direct rather than waiting for a response to your post.

Absolutely. As ‘Elspeth’ said, the book was closed in January 2004. Sorry, but you will not get a response to this thread.

What you can do is join a group, post a sample of your work, have a look at what other members are doing, contribute to the forums.

There are all sorts of ways you can get involved and develop your skills as a writer. If you need help finding your way around the site, give Nik Perring or me a shout – that’s one of the reasons we’re here.
