    Dear Elspeth,

I've uploaded the first chapter of the work I wrote to you earlier about.

It's logged under Writer's Archive, Fiction, Historical, Bellus Locus - and it has an error in one of the final paragraphs, but because my membership hasn't gone through fully, I cannot edit it!

Meanwhile, I hope that you find it of interest.
    Many thanks
    Kaye

cheers for your swift reply though

Now James, I can't have people thinking that I accept bribes, can I?
(though I'm not averse to a few Revels....)

Hi Katie, just for clarification, is it still the case that you would like a synopsis, in hard copy (rather than by email) to the address in the WAY? You seem to be using the technology so well it comes as a shock to be dragged back to the postage stamp era.

My novel's strapline? Paolo Coelho meets Tony Parsons.

    Cheers

    Mark (aka Sourcebook)

Hi Mark. For synopses you can e-mail them if you'd prefer. For full scripts or samples I need a hard copy.

Fine, thanks. As your email is hidden, I'll just send a biog, synopsis and 3-chapter package to the mailing address, if that's ok.

    Cheers

    Mark

Well, I've sent it in today. You didn't need to know that, but it get my points up!

    It just arrived actually.
But James, I was kidding! You didn't actually need to include a pack of Revels!!!! (Though it was very generous of you. Perhaps I should have suggested something more nutritious, but nevermind)
But don't let this make people think that you can sweet-talk me with a sweetie. Dear oh, dear, we'll have to re-locate this thread to the ethical issues section at this rate!
Right, I'm off to munch some chocs

Hey, I no you were. But I was told this story about this band who sent wanted to send their tapes into Skint. But for 14 days beforehand they send in space invader crisps, pick n mix, all sorts of sweets with no note. On the last day they sent on more sweets as well as a tape. The tape got listened to straight away...now that's a good ploy in my book! It separates your submission from all the others straight away. I reckon there's a lesson in there for everybody. Think of a way to make yours stand out (and my writing so will not make mine stand out!)

    cheers and take care all

By the way Scriptsplayed, I had a look at Bellus Locus. Thanks for pointing it out to me and I've posted some comments which I hope are useful.

And Anthony, you're right; do whatever it takes to stand out from the crowd (within reason and the law, one would hope!)

Unfortunately, the Jiffy Bag was not enough to protect the Revels, and many a malteaser has come to an untimely end...alas.

    Hi Elspeth,
Many thanks for your comments, I've posted a reply to them - rather than send you an email - but if you'd prefer I can do this.
look at: Fiction, History, Bellus Locus
    kind regards
    K

This is good to know. Katie, too bad about those maltesers! I shall now endeavour to send out a large pack of maltesers wrapped over and over with sheets of those things that go 'pop!' (the name escapes me now) so that even if a herd of elephants happened to find themselves in the Royal Mail's depot they'd bounce right off my package. Oh, and you'll also find my synopsis to read through at your leisure while you munch away at the perfectly round, smooth and most importantly uncrushed chocolate spheres!

On a serious note, I really would like to send you my synopsis (and the chocolates), Katie, but I'm still waiting for a yay or nay from another agent. It's been nearly a month now, but that includes the christmas and new year break...I'm not sure how much longer I should wait until I contact them with an update. They did say on their website 3 weeks for them to respond - I guess I'm a little impatient...anyhoo...

No rush Word's Worth - I'm still working on my Christmas backlog - it's not a pretty sight....

Ok people, enough of the chocolates!!! (Anthony, what have you started?!) You'll ruin my New Year's resolution to eat more healthily (then again, they are made to be broken)

Thanks for the submission Nahed, and the Malteasers. Your impressive packaging worked and they seem to have arrived relatively unscathed! I'll save them for when I'm reading your work.

    Hoorah Katie!

I couldn't find bubble wrap in my post office!! So I had to make do with that jiffy bag but I suppose the 'handle with CARE' scrawl worked (a little). I was tempted to write 'handle with CARE, LOVE and AFFECTION' but thought against it as I didn't want an amorous postie attached to the envelope for you to sign receipt of

Enjoy! Oh and by the way, maltesers aren't fattening. That's why they've got all those holes in the centre of the chocolate -that's where all the fattening stuff was. :D
