Yes, interesting post. As with most things, I suspect we'll see a division between authors with a professional approach and those who will just hit and hope. The professional will realise that, as Coker says, he now has the responsibility of making sure his work is properly edited and presented. Others won't care, just hope they'll hit an audience anyway. It doesn't help that some very badly written and edited self-published books have made a lot of money. I caught a bit of a TV round-up of the year last night. One section was people reading bits out of 50 Shades of Grey (because it's so funny) and perhaps one unintentional side-effect was that quite a few couldn't even read out their section in a sensible way because it was so badly written.
