I just sold a story to a new magazine called Scout & Engineer (http://www.scoutandengineer.com/).

    I really like their agenda, e.g. -

"Themes will include individualism, individual rights, efficacy of volition, the importance of personal- over crowd-perspective, freedom from dogma, political freedom, etc."

So, if like me, you have a tendency to squeeze, stuff, saturate or even hint at philosophical themes in your stories, this may be worth submitting to.

Looks like a good place for a rant, Terry! I once wrote a story for WW in which the protaganist persuaded everyone on the bus not to pay their fare because the service was so crap. Needless to say they didn't buy it! Well done on your sale. A good start to the new year!

    Interesting; thank you, Terry.

Their rates look OK. Have they paid you yet??

Yes, paid by PayPal about 20mins after I agreed the contract.

Jem - I do like to rant but I've learned to put the story first, I think. In this particular one, I get the secondary character to make the points I might want to make; and I think he does it with a lot of humour, which is another good masking mechanism.

Hey, that's good - (the payment time, I mean!)

Yes, I always get someone in my stories to make the ranting points I'd like to make!
