    Hi everyone
    Me again!
I will be sending my stuff out again in the new year, this time as a young adults novel.
However I had ten or so rejections when i submitted it in its old adult form.
Can I submit to agents that work for the same agency where other agents have rejected me?

I think you probably can - especially if you're subbing to children's agents when before you were subbing to adults. Mostly they have a different submissions address, even when that's a generic one.

But I would say DON'T RUSH. You've completed a major rewrite pretty quick. Take time to put it in a drawer and let it rest, then read it through, make sure all the changes work 100% and nothing feels rushed.

You only get one shot with an agent (unless you're very lucky). They will still be here in a few weeks/months so no hurry.

Very good advice from Flora. You do usually only get one go these days so make sure it's as perfect as you can make it.

    Hi Flora

Thank you! Yes, you are right I need to take my time this time around. My post might have been a bit misleading, as by New Year I mean "in the new year" not literally in Jan.

I'm just one of life planners I'm afraid. I like to have an idea of who to target, even if its months away. It gives me something to work towards!

    Sounds very organised!!

I assumed from your post you were meaning kind of New Year's Day but early next year sounds very sensible.

    Good luck!!

Don't know if this helps, but I was at an event where the panel agreed that the worst months to send stuff out in were January and October.

Like the others, I'd say take your time and really get those first three chapters as perfect as you can make them. There really is no rush and you'll feel much more happier yourself if you know you've done the very best you can.

And the very best of luck!

That makes sense. I bet everyone hits New Year and thinks "my resolution for this year is to get that novel under the bed published!"

Yes, definitely take your time and go over it unremittingly, Eve - i did this for the first time properly with my current novel, and i'm sure that made the difference.

Yes, i certainly think you can sub to the same agency to a different agent - especially as it is a different genre now.

    Best of luck

    Good advice from everyone.

It's true that a lot of subs arrive in January. On the other hand things are quiet in the trade, I gather, so they do have a decent amount of reading time.
