I have always wanted to write a Christmas story with an original slant and I finally came up with a children's book entitled "Happy Christmas, Little Star". It looks at the story of Christ's birth from a completely new perspective and is entertaining and humourous, doesn't preach and is full of colourful characters. I have so far contacted a number of publishers and literary agents with the idea but as yet, not one has taken it beyond the synopsis phase even though I have done my market research and checked with them first.
Nobody, it seems, wants to publish original Christmas stories anymore and this makes me sad. Has anyone any suggestions on the next step?
thanks.

self publishing and selling direct to local schools. . As it's aimed at children you might even get local sponsorship for the first print run.

Have you tried John Hunt Publishing? Most of their books are Christian-based, although I did a couple of non-fiction books for them when they once decided to branch out a little.

Beanie,
Details below. If you're submitting, you may as well address it to John Hunt himself. I think their editor, Ann O'Rorke, has left now. Or give them a ring and ask who to write to.
