Somewhere online (I think it was a blog post about agents' pet peeves!), I read that writers should always query agents from businesslike email addresses.

The other day, my webmail was playing up, and I broke this rule and used a silly address because it was working. Now I wonder if maybe I'd better sort out a third, po-faced one for querying purposes.

What do you think - does it matter? Surely getting away with trivial pleasures like silly email addresses is one of the perks of doing work like this? (You know, in lieu of actual PAY.)

You could simply set up a business-like gmail for Querying. A Query is a business letter so it's best to treat it like a job application.
