    by scott_legend at 13:28 on 22 June 2011
    Hi,

    I work with London-based independent book publisher Legend Press and we are looking to embark upon a number of Writers Workshops after the great success of recent events held in London. Basically we are looking to take such events on the road to different parts of the UK and Ireland to make these events more accessible for those writers not located in and around the London area.

    We have organised an event in Birmingham supported by Writing West Midlands on Saturday 16 July at Birmingham Central Library from 1pm to 4pm. These consist of a panel of industry specialists including;

    Candi Miller – Author, Salt & Honey (World Book Day Top Ten Books), teaches Creative Writing at Birmingham University
    Mark Piggott – Author, Fire Horses (Blackwell’s Books of the Summer) and Out of Office, and Journalist
    Anne-Marie Doulton – Literary Agent, The Ampersand Agency (first book it took on was turned into Slumdog Millionaire)
    Charlie Hill – Author, The Space Between Things
    Tom Chalmers – Managing Director, Legend Press and Paperbooks Publishing

    The event will include a panel discussion and detailed Q&A with publishers, agents and authors looking at tips for writing, how to get your work published, get an agent, market your work and increase your author profile

    The cost is Ł59.99 but we are currently offering a 20% discount to any members of your WriteWord. To receive this all you have to do is email: conference@legend-paperbooks.co.uk [mailto:conference@legend-paperbooks.co.uk] with the reference WriteWord20% and you will receive the discount.
