    Well, that was interesting. I read the articles posted on the weblink you pointed me to. I have no doubt there are some truths in what is mentioned. I am, naturally, a little coincerned as like most self-respecting writers steering clear of 'vanity' publishers has been something I have been strong on. I shalltherefore send a copy of this contract to the Authors association and see what they come up with. I am inclined,however, to think they will see the contract as sound, it is the practice which appears to be rather worrying. Will let you know what happens, though I have to say they have todate been very professional - time, though, will tell.

    Thank you for your time and input. It is appreciated

    Checked out Barnes and Noble's online book store this morning for one of Publish America's publications and believe it or not it was there. Thought I might try the same thing with Amazon. I simply went to Publish America's website picked an Author's publication - at random - then checked out Barnes and Noble. Mind you I have not managed to repeat this excercise for more than one author's work but will do so later. Reason for this was that 'marketing' was one of the criticisms levelled against Publish Amrica. Furthermore, one of the postings on the weblink I checked out quoted Barnes and Noble as saying they had never, nor would they ever stock Publish America lines. I know this proves nothing but it is to say the very least interesting!

    That's interesting, Felmagre. Perhaps the criticism PA get is unwarranted?
    Good luck in your investigations.

    You say Faber &Faber gave you some feedback,
    how did you get them to look at your stuff - did you call?

    No,I simply sent them a letter together with the sample. I had to wait a while but the replied. This was also the system I used for Bloodaxe, whom I have to say were extremely helpful, Indeed, they went so far as to offer detailed feedback which I thought was extremely generous of them given they had no obligation to do so. Whilst I have had a number of rejections they have always been polite. Bloodaxe was 'preprinter' apart from my name, the others PDF etc were always personal.

    However, the enquiry letter and small sample was/is what I used.

    PS Checked out Amazon, PA books held by them as well. Interesting.... but not necessarily conclusive.

    <Added>

    Whoops it was Iron...whom I received feedback from not Bloodaxe. Bloodaxe was the 'preprinted letter'
