  • The best way to advertise Kindle books
by Dwriter at 18:05 on 22 February 2011
Hi guys, I got a book out on Amazon Kindle now called "Trapped on Draconica". It's one I've publishing myself and looking for ways to promote it (the idea being so that I can make a hard copy later on. Does anyone know what the best way to promote Kindle books are?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks.

Quoting the Sunday Times, 17/10/10 (Let kindle fire up your inner author).
    Re marketing:-
Start by creating a profile for yourself on Author Central, a place on Amazon's site where author's provide information about themselves. Next it's time to get blogging to build a 'buzz'.

    Just found this:-

But you can do better than that. If you write interesting posts about Kindle, then Google will send Kindle owners to your blog to read your posts (and the promotion for your book). More info on

Thanks for that Pat. I'll look into it.

At the moment, I'm kinda advertising it on some anime/fantasy forums. However, they have rules that say you can't advertise, so I can't outright sell or promote the book. However, what I can do is put up some of the artwork and talk about it, then if they are interested then I can tell them how to buy it.

But yeah, blogging seems to be the best way to go.

Apparently a lot of young adults (your target readership) are turning away from blogging and towards Facebook, so that may be a better place to concentrate your energies. Blogs are a long term committment, and the most successful author blogs (eg, Gaiman, Doctorow) are because they've been going for 10yrs or more.

I do actually have a facebook page for the book up, seems to be going ok so far. And I have an advert up on youtube so hopefully that can draw in some readers. Guess it's just a case of promote, promote, promote!

I recommend reading the blogs of Kristine Kathryn Rusch and Dean Wesley Smith who have recently been giving loads of advice on e-publishing. Also listen to the Dragon Page podcast which is run by two Fantasy writers who are very much in the vanguard of electronic publishing and how to promote it.

Thanks for the link Mnott and the advice about the blogs Terry. I might have to check out the podcasts as they sound like my kinda things.
