  • Networking Events?

    Hi,

I'm very interested in attending author/publishing events throughout the year to meet other authors, editors, agents and industry bods to keep me sane, motivated, raise my profile, and, hopefully, on the ball.

The following are my selections. Do you have any more?

I've got these three down on my calendar:
    1. London Book Fair 11-13 April (good for big picture industry type contacts - not for approaching agents, but in my experience v.good for children's publishers)
    http://www.londonbookfair.co.uk

    2. Crimefest: Bristol 19-22 May

    3. Theakstons Crime Writing Festival: Harrogate 21-24 July (not sure what or if it's good but Tess Gerritsen, Lisa Gardener and Leee Child are attending so that's good enough for me)

My main interests are thrillers, crime, childrens and travel.

    Thanks y'all.

If you're interested in children's I can't recommend the SCBWI UK highly enough - they do loads of events where you get to meet agents and editors (mostly in London) plus of course critique groups and events to meet writers locally. The Children's Book Circle in London does some good events too.
