I haven't been shouting much about the publication of my mid-range children's novel, Halfling, as I'm not sure I could change track now and become a writer for children, but the novel was published two days ago by Walker Books, and I just got this email from Walkers which did make me feel good:-
'I’ve just checked your sales so far and we’ve sold almost 800 in the UK and have shipped 850 to Australia and 200 to Singapore , so your book may be on the ocean as I type. I thought you might enjoy thinking about your words spreading across the globe! The UK quantity is quite healthy for a new book in the current conditions/lack of shops and I think word of mouth will work, especially in the educational and library markets.'
I have to say though, I haven't arranged any signings or anything, but just maybe I should.
Becca.
Becca, that's fantastic, well done!! And yes, gosh, the lack of shops . I will start a new thread so as not to hi-jack this one, with a link to the Bookseller's article & my comment.
