Emma H, are you a member of a face to face writers' group? I ask because I've found that good for finding writing friends who *are* prepared to read a whole novel.

No, I'm not you in disguise, but it does seem as though we were separated at birth in the close, but no banana stakes.

Obviously, I have no useful advice but I do have a question: are you basically happy with this book -and yes, I know no-one is ever completely happy - but if you re-write it, do you feel that you are just tinkering round the edges, rather than changing anything fundamental?

If you can put your hand on your heart and say, yes, this is pretty much as good as I can get it at the moment, then I would say, send it to everyone and hope the heavens smile on you.
